Custom high voltage door handle capacitors for your specific MRI technology
Cutting-edge NMR technologies, such as ultra-high-field (≥1 GHz) spectrometers, or probes designed for use under extreme conditions (cryogenic/high temperature), often present unique and extreme electrical and physical requirements. These may include the need to provide exceptionally high voltages for specialized amplifiers, integration within extremely compact probe housings, or the need to maintain absolute nonmagnetic properties in strong magnetic fields. In these scenarios, a standard doorknob capacitor may not perfectly meet all requirements.
Why do NMR scanners require custom capacitors?
Special voltage and capacitance requirements: Special solid-state amplifiers or gradient field power supplies may require unconventional voltage/capacitance combinations.
Extreme spatial layout requirements: To optimize system layout and minimize loop inductance, the capacitor's dimensions, terminal position, and orientation may require specialized design.
Extreme electrical performance requirements: To achieve faster pulse response or lower losses, capacitors must have ESR and ESL below the lower limits of existing standard products.
Special materials and processes: To meet the requirements for use in ultra-high field environments, strictly non-magnetic materials and specialized low-outgassing treatments are essential.
