Product Overview
ODM 24KV 38PF Voltage Indicator High Voltage Ceramic Capacitor 3.6KV 40.5KV rod ceramic capacitor for lightning arrestor applications.
Operating Principle
The Live-Line Indicator consists of a high voltage AC-rated capacitor connected in series with a neon indicator between phase and earth lines (Figure 1). An optional higher value, low voltage-rated capacitor may be added in parallel with the neon (Figure 2). This system serves dual purposes: indicating live connections to operators and enabling re-routing systems during inadvertent disconnections.

Applications
Designed for voltage presence indication and fault detection on power frequency high voltage distribution switchgear (6.6kV-36kV systems). The capacitor connects directly to the HV line, passing a small current that illuminates a front-panel neon lamp or feeds sensing circuits for supply failure monitoring. Typically contained within resin mouldings customized by switch manufacturers.
