Product Description
MYG3 14K 360 ZT General MOV Metal Oxide Varistor
The MYG3 14K 360 ZT is a customizable Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) designed as a power source arrester and plug-in lighting resistant component. MOVs are voltage-dependent resistors manufactured from ceramic powders of metal oxides, primarily zinc oxide (approximately 90%) with small amounts of cobalt, manganese, bismuth, and other metal oxides.
The ceramic metal oxide powders are contained between two metal electrodes. The grains form diode junctions between neighbors, creating what is effectively a large series of diodes. At low voltages, a small reverse leakage current flows. When high voltage is applied, the diode junctions experience electron tunneling and avalanche breakdown, enabling the MOV to protect connected equipment.
