The MYS5-440/20-4P and MYS5-440/20-4P (NS) are modular surge protective devices (SPDs) designed for TN-S systems using a "4+0" circuit configuration. Both models are classified as Type 2 according to EN 61643-11 and Class II according to IEC 61643-11, making them suitable for installation at the distribution board level to protect electrical installations against transient overvoltages caused by switching operations or indirect lightning strikes.
Both devices feature an AC nominal voltage of 230/400V (50/60Hz) and offer a maximum continuous operating voltage of 275V (50/60Hz) between L and N, and 255V (50/60Hz) between N and PE. With a nominal discharge current (8/20μs) of 20kA and a maximum discharge current (8/20μs) of 40kA for both L-N and N-PE paths, these SPDs provide robust protection for demanding applications. The voltage protection level (Up) is ≤ 1.5kV for both L-N and N-PE, while response times are ≤ 25ns for L-N and ≤ 100ns for N-PE, ensuring fast and reliable clamping of surge events.
The devices operate over a wide temperature range of -40℃ to +70℃ and feature a clear green/red operating status and fault indication, allowing users to quickly identify the health of the protection module. Each unit has a single port and accepts installation wires from 1.5mm² (solid/flexible) up to 35mm² (stranded) or 25mm² (flexible). The screw terminals use M5 screws with a tightening torque of 3.0Nm±10%. Mounting is via a 35mm DIN rail in accordance with EN 60715, and the housing is made of thermoplastic material rated UL 94 V-0 for flame retardancy. The devices are intended for indoor installation and carry an IP20 degree of protection.
The key difference between the two models is that the MYS5-440/20-4P (NS) version is equipped with a remote signaling function. It provides a floating changeover contact with an AC switching capacity of 125VAC/1A and a DC switching capacity of 30VDC/0.5A. The remote signaling terminal accepts a conductor cross-section of 0.2mm² and uses M2 screws with a tightening torque of 0.25Nm. This makes the (NS) variant particularly suitable for installations where remote monitoring of SPD status is required, such as in industrial control cabinets or building management systems.
